Over the last few years, and especially the last 12 months, I have realised I have spent most of my life meeting other people’s expectations. Many of my roles involved uniforms, so you put on the uniform, you put on that person.
Becoming a naturist helped. Taking the clothes off stripped off the persona, I could be me. But who was I?
Without the roles I had been,who was I?
And so, I am on a voyage of discovery at 67 years of age, to find out who I really am.
What are my real beliefs, not just the ones I inherited from others?
My advice, for what it is worth, don’t wait until my age to do this.
Question every belief you have.
Who gave it to you?
Is it a valid belief?
Does this belief make you feel good about yourself?
Does this belief lead to hatred or victimisation of others?
Find your own questions and answers. Learn who you are, not what others want you to be.
